The OPC approved an updated and revised Proposition 1 Grant Guidelines document on November 1, 2017. The new Adopted Grant Guidelines are available HERE.
Round 2 of OPC Proposition 1 grant funding will begin in early 2018, and a Grant Solicitation and Application will be released in December 2017. Round 1 of OPC Proposition 1 grant funding closed on December 1, 2015.
In 2015, the legislature designated an ongoing appropriation of $2.5 million dollars of the General Fund annually to support MPA Monitoring to evaluate the performance of California’s MPA Network. Additional funding sources may also become available to support this work. Funds are disbursed through both a competitive and needs-based process.

Proposition 84 funds may be used for a wide range of purposes including scientific research, adaptive management, and conservation of marine resources. The Proposition 84 Grant Guidelines are available HERE.
On August 7, 2017, the OPC approved the development and implementation of a competitive grant program using Proposition 84 funds. The competitive grant program will be administered by California Sea Grant College Program and the University of Southern California Sea Grant Program. An informational webinar regarding the competitive grant program and the request for proposals are expected to be released in early 2018.
