SUBJECT: Ocean Protection Council Meeting Highlights – September 13, 2012 in Sacramento
The Ocean Protection Council (OPC) convened its second meeting of 2012 on September 13 in Sacramento. The Council took actions related to improving our understanding of ocean acidification and tentatively approved an MOU among the West Coast Governors Alliance on Ocean Health and the West Coast Ocean Observing Systems. The Council was presented with information on the recently released National Research Council’s Sea-level Rise for the Coasts of California, Oregon, and Washington: Past, Present and Future, the success of the Marine Life Protection Act, and California’s planned response to the potential impact from Japanese tsunami marine debris.
